The three-acre property in Silver Springs is listed at $48,000 and even though it was appraised at substantially less than that, the owner is holding firm, according to County Manager Steve Snyder.
Snyder will be asking commissioners Thursday whether to proceed with the purchase at the requested price or pursue other options.
The 1997 State Legislature provided $1.25 million for the construction of the 24- to 30-bed facility, but Lyon County is responsible for site acquisition.
Counties participating in the regional program with Lyon include Douglas, Carson, Churchill and Storey.
