Arias hits 36th in Stars victory

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Las Vegas third baseman George Arias hit his 36th home run of the season and the Stars scored two runs in each of the final two innings to beat the Iowa Cubs 7-5 victory Tuesday afternoon.

The Stars recorded 11 hits, including eight for extra bases, to split the four-game series. They next travel to Tacoma for four games, starting tonight.

Arias' two-run shot marked the second straight game he hit a homer. He already owns the Stars' single-season record.

There were six other home runs hit in the game. Three were hit by the Stars' Aaron Guiel, Creighton Gubanich and Archi Cianfrocco. The Cubs' Micah Franklin, Pedro Valdes and Pat Cline also went deep.

Las Vegas starter Brian Tollberg pitched 6 2/3 innings and improved his record to 6-4. He allowed four runs on six hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

Jim Bruske recorded the final two outs for his first save since joining the Stars from the San Diego Padres last week.

Kevin Foster took the loss and saw his record fall to 4-5. Foster went five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk, but he struck out 10.
