Churchill County Museum starts fund-raising

It will send out about 7,000 letters to county residents asking them to join the museum association or to contribute to the building fund.

A later effort will include a broadcast of the nationally syndicated Thomas Jefferson Hour from Fallon. The program, featuring Jefferson scholar Clay Jenkinson, is based in Reno.

So far, the museum has raised about $250,000 for the expansion. Museum director Jane Pieplow said the planned 10,000 square foot addition will cost about $1.5 million.

Realistically, the association is looking at a one- to two-year effort, she told the Lahontan Valley News.
