James E. Atkin, 77, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born April 11, 1921, in Greenville, Utah. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired railroad shipping clerk.

He is survived by three brothers, Lewis Atkin of Las Vegas, Don Atkin of Vista, Calif., and Clarence Atkin of San Jose, Calif.; and two sisters, Estell Lewis of St. George, Utah, and Marjorie Frackel of Ruth.

IDA L. BAIRD

Ida L. Baird, 79, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. She was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Wisconsin. A resident for 28 years, she was an accountant for the county.

She is survived by two sons, James Taus of Henderson and Robert Taus of Wisconsin; four daughters, Marilyn Hauf of Henderson, Hilda Simpson and Carol Dussault, both of Wisconsin, and Judy Wheeler of Arizona; three brothers, Paul Gocht and George Gocht, both of Wisconsin, and Alfred Gocht of Massachusetts; one sister, Dorothy Moen of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

LOIS BARON

Lois Baron, 63, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. She was born Oct. 30, 1934, in Rochdale, England. A resident for seven years, she was a retired office manager for a medical supply company and a member of the Henderson Senior Recreation Center.

She is survived by her husband, Al; one daughter, Linda Levine of Culver City, Calif.; one son, Stephen Baron of Moran, Wyo.; two brothers, Frank Hoyle and Geoffrey Hoyle, both of the California; and one grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

GODWAL CORONA

Godwal Corona, 58, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Santiago, Cuba. A resident for 25 years, he was a hotel food server.

He is survived by one daughter, Sara Corona, his mother, Clara Seanz, and one sister, Sara Sanchez, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday Palm Chapel, Main. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

EUNICE JEAN DENNY

Eunice Jean Denny, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Indiana. A resident for three years, she was a factory supervisor.

She is survived by one son, William Lamamore; two daughters, Barbara Mestas and Mary Curtis; one sister, Mary Keener; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

SAMUEL WILLIAM FODEN

Samuel William Foden, 79, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. he was born April 8, 1919, in Michigan. A resident for five years, he was a plumber and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Dora.

NORMAN P. GUTOWSKI

Norman P. Gutowski, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born June 26, 1929, in Detroit. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired from the Air Force, a Korean War veteran and worked in fire and rescue.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; three sons, Michael Gutowski, Norman Gutowski and Glenn Gutowski, and one daughter, Dolly Fisher, all of Las Vegas; three stepsons, Randy Schuette and Neil Schuette, both of Las Vegas, and Keith Schuette of West Bend, Wis.; one brother, Edward Gutowski of Allen Park, Mich.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Ana H. Hall, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 26, 1932, in the Dominican Republic. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel; and one daughter, Ana Jaguez of Las Vegas.

JOHN HARKEMA

John Harkema, 89, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Iowa. A resident for 10 years, he was an automotive mechanic and a member of Widowed Persons Service.

He is survived by two daughters, Joycelyn Bousman and Janice Matson, both of Las Vegas; one son, Clayton Harkema of Muskogee, Okla.; five brothers, Henry Harkema of Paramount, Calif., Joe Harkema of Bellflower, Calif., Lloyd Harkema of California and Roy Harkema and Kenny Harkema, both of Reno; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Wednesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Penelope S. Hirshberg, 50, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 7, 1948, in Florida. A resident for more than 30 years, she was a writer.

She is survived by her husband, Col. Sidney S.; one son, Matthew Munari of Las Vegas; her father, Robert Scales of Georgia; her mother, Maxine Scales, and one brother, Robert Scales, both of Florida; one sister, Madeline of California; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

CORNEL KIMBLE JR.

Cornel Kimble Jr., 50, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 19, 1948, in Louisiana. A resident for 40 years, he was a telephone repairman.

He is survived by seven sons, Juan Simon, Stacy Monroe, Kyle Kimble, Courtland Kimble and Christian Kimble, all of Las Vegas, Cornel Kimble III of California, and Jerrod Kimble of New York state; three daughters, Nina Kimble, Tabitha Pimpleton and Leslie Kimble, his mother, Vera Johnson, and one brother, Louis Kimble, all of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

MICHAEL OUKE

Michael Ouke, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 2, 1921, in Hibbing, Minn. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired pipe fitter and plumber, a member of the Sons of Italy, Las Vegas Moose Lodge and Hibbing Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; three sons, Jim Wydra of Keewatin, Minn., Joe Wydra of Western Springs, Ill., and Phil Wydra of Fox River Grove, Ill.; one daughter, Bobbi Frantti of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; one brother, Robert Ouke of Side Lake, Minn.; one sister, Mildred Lubovich of Hibbing; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

ISABELLA M. 'MICKEY' RIES

Isabella M. "Mickey" Ries, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born May 15, 1920, in Glasgow, Scotland. A resident for 12 years, she was a receptionist at an optometrist's office.

She is survived by one son, Dick Ries of Las Vegas; one brother, Richard V. McLennan of Scotland; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Olivia M. Sandberg, 94, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 16, 1903, in Johnson City, Texas. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Paulena Reed of Niota, Ill., Corky Bain of Texhoma, Okla., and Barbara Klepper of Kingsland, Texas; one son, Bobby Woolley of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

ANNA BELLE SMITH

Anna Belle Smith, 91, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 12, 1906, in Grow, Texas. A resident for 30 years, she was an office supervisor in the petroleum industry.

She is survived by her companion, Jesse M. Crenshaw of Las Vegas; two sons, Lee Otis Smith and W.T. "Dub" Smith, both of Bloomfield, N.M.; two daughters, Werdna Conrad-Williams of Las Vegas and Vera "Jackie" Maritt of Idalou, Texas; two brothers, Claud Flippin of Paducah, Texas, and T.O. Flippin of Las Vegas; one sister, Ruth Hext of Coleman, Texas; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bert William Stevens, 85, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 26, 1912, in New York City. A resident for eight years, he was a Holsum Bakery truck driver, a member of Bakery Drivers Union of Northern California and the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol A. Parker of Henderson; one brother, Reginald Stevens of Oroville, Calif.; one sister, Marge Stevens of British Columbia; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

JACQUELINE VALENTINO

Jacqueline Valentino, 72, of Henderson died Thursday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Philadelphia. A resident for eight years, she was a retired claims adjuster for a medical insurer.

She is survived by one daughter, Helen Harris of North Hills, Calif.; one son, Marc Valentino of Long Beach, Calif.; and one uncle, Horace Jasper of Philadelphia.

Servillano Arosa Viray, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 29, 1923, in Tanza Cavite, Philippines. A resident for five years, he was a retired civil engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Rosario; two daughters, Rosemary Viray-Nowins, M.D. of Las Vegas and Rachel Viray of the Philippines; two sons, Rocky Viray and Ronnie Viray, and his mother, Aurea Arosa Viray, all of the Philippines; four brothers, Alfredo Viray, Manola Viray and Faustino Viray Jr., all of the Philippines, and Ernesto Viray of Houston; three sisters, Libertad Viray Rua and Adelina Viray Arendela, both of the Philippines, and Ligaya Viray Embrador of San Diego; and seven grandchildren.

HARVEY J. WYMAN

Harvey J. Wyman, 76, of Philadelphia died Friday in Philadelphia. He was born May 21, 1922, in Canada. A former Las Vegas resident many years ago, he was a meat cutter, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Wyman-Cutler and Lise Wyman, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11:30 a.m. services Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
