Letter: Don't buy 'Everybody's doing it' line of defense

They work the three-card monty, shuffling the real issues handily away from being actually in front of the watcher's eyes. Deflect, divert, whatever sleight-of-hand will help. A well-known actress said on TV last week -- and a recent letter writer to the Sun echoed the sentiment, "One thing about Clinton, the country will be kept out of war."

Ha! They, too, must now feel the embarrassment of delusion exposed that so many Clinton supporters have experienced in recent days. The issues of legal, ethical, moral and other misconduct by President Clinton transcend his carnal use and disposal of a subordinate intern 30 years younger than he.

Our president must be held accountable and answerable for his actions and he must face appropriate consequences. If he does not, future behaviors will likely be far worse. High crimes and misdemeanors: He is guilty of both.

Don't believe for a minute that everybody does it -- this emperor's new clothes are filthy rags none of us should want to wear or allow others to force upon us. Don't buy the lie -- that's just an insidious effort to desensitize and disarm you, and eventually recruit you to help the spread of dishonor. Wake up. Stand Up. Speak out.
