Letter: Ruling verifies the integrity of past, current aviation directors

Recent newspaper articles dealing with the certification process at McCarran International Airport have really angered me. As owner and president of the company working as official concessionaire of McCarran's advertising program, I have known and had direct dealings with Aviation Director Randy Walker and former Director Bob Broadbent for many, many years.

Both are men of character, judgment and integrity, and the "complaint" lodged against them by Robert Rose was both frivolous and unwarranted. Walker clearly had nothing to do with the contract involving Gary Naseef, because he was still assistant count manager at the time, and both he and Broadbent, simply put, would never knowingly tolerate improprieties in the certification process, as the "complaint" alleged.

The Ethics Commission hearing on Aug. 13 involving Walker and Broadbent was a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. If there was any basis for the complaint, it should have been heard much earlier, not eight months after it was filed.

There was no doubt in my mind that both Walker and Broadbent would be exonerated, and in one of the shortest ethics hearings on record, they were.
