Leadoff hitter Chris Prieto hit three doubles and scored four runs as the Stars came from behind to defeat the Tacoma Rainiers 9-8 Sunday afternoon at Cashman Field. In a game that featured four lead changes, the Rainiers overcame an early three-run deficit to take an 8-6 lead in the seventh inning. But the Stars' bats continued to connect as they scored a run in each of their last three at-bats. ... Stars starter Ray Ricken was roughed up, allowing five runs on seven hits and walk in five innings. He was relieved by Mike Rossiter who gave up three more runs, but Al Newman and Roberto Ramirez combined for 2 2/3 scoreless innings to receive the victory and save, respectively. ... Tacoma starter Ryan Franklin gave up seven runs and 11 hits in six innings, but still was in position to get the win when he was relieved by Tim Harikkala . ... The Stars hit eight doubles Sunday, increasing their professional baseball-leading total to 315. Double-A El Paso was second entering Sunday with 298. The Colorado Rockies lead the major leagues with 294. ... Utilityman Archi Cianfrocco did not play because of a nagging back injury. He is listed as day-to-day. ... Aaron Guiel played third base for the first time in his career. ... Pitcher Matt Clement needs only four more strikeouts to break the Stars' single-season record of 161 set by Scott Sanders in 1993. ... Las Vegas' series finale against Tucson, which begins tonight, will include a doubleheader on Tuesday. The extra game will make up for a May 13 rainout.
