Letter: Speeders turning residential thoroughfare into highway

I find nine of 10 cars easily exceeding 40 mph. Are people that ignorant to rules of the road in this town? Can they not tell that Cielo Vista is not a highway?

Of course, who could tell the difference, there are only children walking to and from school everywhere. My neighbor's dog was hit and killed on this road a few weeks ago and was dragged by this car at least 50 feet. Now I ask you, "How fast was this car going to drag a dog that far before the driver could stop?"

Also, we must ask ourselves, "What if this dog would have been one of our children?" It will happen -- unless we can get the city to approve the installation of speed bumps and sidewalks on both sides all the way up Cielo Vista between Buffalo and Vegas drives. God help us if a child is killed on this road because of the negligence of the city and Summerlin not giving this matter immediate attention.

I know I speak for every person that lives between Buffalo and Vegas off Cielo Vista. I am speaking to the entire city of Las Vegas: Please do something before it is too late and some poor parents lose one of the loves of their lives.
