Obituaries for August 31, 1998

Lucille Marie Cook, 63, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Gaines Township, Mich. A resident for six years, she was a food preparer and a member of the Culinary Union.

She is survived by her husband, John C. Sr.; three daughters, Mary Karlovits of Las Vegas, Cindy Dowd of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Sue Wright of Lawndale, Calif.; two sons, John C. Cook Jr. of Lakewood, Calif., and George R. Cook of Whittier, Calif.; three brothers, Charles Fyvie and Albert Fyvie, both of Burton, Mich., and Milton Fyvie of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Betty Sova of Burton and Phyllis Benore and Rosemary Black, both of Flint; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A private burial will follow.

SALLY GREENHAUSE

Sally Greenhause, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 10, 1926, in New York City. A resident for eight years, she was a secretary for CETA, a program for helping the needy, and a volunteer for Southwest Medical Associates.

She is survived by her husband, Seymour; one son, Jeffrey Greenhause of Las Vegas; one daughter, Roberta Luster of Saugus, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-2 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A private burial will follow.

GERALD E. PRITCHARD

Gerald E. Pritchard, 69, of North Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born April 19, 1929, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired warehouse inventory controller.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; four sons, Marvin Pritchard of Green Mountain Falls, Colo., Jerry Pritchard of Waco, Texas, Dean Pritchard of Ocala, Fla., and Glenn Pritchard of North Las Vegas; one daughter, Marlene Martin of Florence, Ky.; two brothers, John Pritchard and David Pritchard, both of Rye, Colo.; three sisters, Pat Mason of Cincinnati, Barbara Conn of Pueblo and Cathy Mickles; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

MICHAEL J. PROTO

Michael J. Proto, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Palermo, Italy. A resident for 16 years, he was a manager at the Federal Aviation Administration and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Ron Proto of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Bob Proto of El Segundo, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Day of Las Vegas; two brothers, John Proto of Las Vegas and Louis Proto of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Emily Low of Brandon, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 Northwest Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494.

STEVE ZACHAR

Steve Zachar, 72, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Poland. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired production engineer in the garment industry.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes; one daughter, Stephanie Zachar, and one son, Peter Zachar, both of Los Angeles; one brother, John Zachar of Toronto, and one sister, Mary Piontek of Canada.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to noon services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A private burial will follow.
