Letter: Medical profession that earns high wages doesn’t get sympathy

I also doubt that a profession, which on average extorts earnings from government and patients and ranks right up there with the players of the NBA, can expect much sympathy from a general population that increasingly is lucky if it manages to survive at a subsistence level.

Perhaps one good thing about all this is that doctors statistically live shorter lives than their patients, an average possibly attributed to their excessive lifestyles and the ethical conundrums of social parasitism and financial cannibalism.

Compared to the American Medical Association, members of the Mafia are pikers and indeed "men of honor."
