John J. Bennett, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 6, 1924, in New Jersey. A seven-year resident, he was a retired electrical contractor, a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Beethoven Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen; three sons, Bruce Bennett of Norco, Calif., and Scott Bennett and David Bennett, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Linda Walker of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.

Lawrence Birman, 71, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A three-year resident, he was a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sally.

James J. Borrelli, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 19, 1918, in New York. A 1 1/2-year resident, he was a mailman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; one son, John Borrelli; one daughter, Angela Castrellon; one brother, Angelo Borrelli; two sisters, Carmella Lombard and Marie Bertino; and seven grandchildren.

MARILYNN A. CALAVAN

Marilynn A. Calavan, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 14, 1927, in Eugene, Ore. A 34-year resident, she owned and operated a retail store.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Calavan of Las Vegas and Tom Barthel of Stayton, Ore.; two daughters, Virginia Walkley of Aurora, Colo., and Linda Floyd of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Shirley Wright of Las Vegas; one brother, John Pierron of Corvallis, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

ROSEMARY CHERNOVETZ

Rosemary Chernovetz, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in New York City. A 20-year resident, she was a retired motel manager.

She is survived by three sons, Victor DeBlasio of Carson City, Raymond DeBlasio of Lyme, Conn., and Kenneth DeBlasio of Las Vegas; one brother, Joseph Sergi, and one sister, Nina Biggio, both of Lakehurst, N.J.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 10 a.m. today in the First Congregational Church, 1200 N. Eastern Ave. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave., Suite A-3, is handling arrangements.

Harry Charles Davis, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Muscatine, Iowa. A 40-year resident, he was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the TIE Club of Las Vegas and a 45-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He is survived by four sisters, Majel Wade of Coralville, Iowa, and Catherine Schulz, Shirley Lane and Joan Lawrence, all of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Richard W. "D.D." Dean, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Loeb, Texas. A one-year resident, he was retired from Goodyear Chemical and was an Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Pat B. "Goody" Dean.

She is survived by her husband, Franco; one daughter, Annemarie Erculei of Las Vegas; one son, Mark Erculei of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Eleanor Lynch of Esmond, R.I., and Mary Jane Fry of Providence.

James G. Georges, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 29, 1916, in Chicago. A 22-year resident, he was a retired insurance salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Patti Schildgen of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Frank A. Green, 82, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born July 8, 1915, in Los Angeles. A 14-year resident, he was a retired plumber and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Kelly Peart and Elizabeth Elsworth, both of Henderson, and Kimberly Reid of Aurora, Colo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Janice N. Grey, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Aug. 16, 1924.

Bill Halkyard, 59, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Panguitch Lake, Utah. He was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Syracuse, N.Y. A 39-year resident, he was a casino floor supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; one stepson, Dan Roy, and one stepdaughter, Kristi Temple, both of Las Vegas; his father, William Halkyard of Columbus, Ohio; his stepmother, Dorothy Halkyard of Boca Raton, Fla.; one brother, John Halkyard of Poway, Calif.; two sisters, Joan Rotaru and Cookie Gutman, both of Columbus; and six grandchildren.

John Roy Lopez, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Honolulu. A 17-year resident, he was a former employee for the state of Georgia, a retired Army veteran, a member of American Association of Retired Persons and a volunteer for the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; five sons, John William Lopez, Kai David Lopez, Roy Lopez, Rickey Lopez and Charles Lopez; three daughters, Tina Athow, Cherylee Lopez and Vickie Lopez; one brother, Ronald Lopez; one sister, Gwen Kwan; and 13 grandchildren.

Antoinette Mary Ann Mason, 53, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Bristol, Pa. An 18-year resident, she was a general room attendant.

She is survived by one son, Christopher A. Tamburello of Las Vegas; and one sister, Mary Manjonie of New Hampshire.

Gene Picotte, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Windsor, Ontario. A 23-year resident, he was a federal government machinist, an Army veteran and a member of the Gold Seekers.

He is survived by four daughters, Catherine Sparks of Las Vegas, Laurie Bowers of Troy, Mich., Jeanette Picotte of Elmira, Ore., and Lisa Kaufman of Los Angeles; one son, Joseph Picotte of Elmira; four sisters; three brothers; and eight grandchildren.

Fred Pilon, 67, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1930, in Blanco, N.M. A resident for more than 40 years, he was a retired chemical operator for a metal manufacturer, a member of the Steel Workers Union and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3848.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita A.; two sons, Michael Pilon of Everett, Wash., and Fred Pilon Jr. of Henderson; three daughters, Nora Olsen, Teresa Wilsdorf and Jackie Smith, and one brother, Larry Pilon, all of Henderson; two sisters, Caroline Gonzales of Henderson and Thelma Olague of Las Vegas; and 10 grandchildren.
