76-year-old woman died of asphyxia

Lindner was found in her home by an acquaintance at 9:45 p.m. in the 6100 block of Glendale Circle near Jones Boulevard and Alta Drive.

The rear bedroom window of the home was forced open and Lindner may have interrupted a burglary in progress police said.

Lindner lived alone and was last seen alive at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Lindner is the second senior citizen to be murdered in the last week. Samuel Agustino Paterniti, 64, was found dead Saturday after being reported missing a week ago today.

Paterniti was found off Centennial Parkway in northwest Las Vegas in a desert area. Paterniti died from multiple stab wounds.

"We haven't found any connection with the murders," Metro Police Homicide Lt. Wayne Petersen said.

Paterniti's missing car was recovered on Monday but police have no suspects in his murder.

At this point it was hard to say why these senior citizens were murdered but robbery is a strong possibility Petersen said.

Police are asking that anyone with information in these two murders call the homicide division at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
