Woman wins $1 million at Caesars Palace

Merle Ann DeSantis won $1,041,030 on a Million Dollar Babies slot machine at Caesars Palace hotel-casino Thursday afternoon.

Bob DeSantis, a retired police detective and Pennsylvania state parole officer, said he had gone to cash in $300 his wife had won. He returned to find she had won the $1 million after moving to another machine.

"We were looking for a winter home," DeSantis said. "Now I guess I'll be looking for a financial advisor, too."

Mrs. DeSantis said she moved to another machine while her husband turned in her $300, "thinking I would win more and surprise him. I surprised him."
