Obituaries for July 6, 1998

Wilma Jean Cummins Andersen, 74, of Henderson died Wednesday in Idaho. She was born July 23, 1923, in Arkansas, Wis. A resident of Henderson for 35 years and a former Las Vegas resident, she was a retired secretary, vice president of Clark County Museum Guild and a member of Black Mountain Country Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan Hampton of Glendale, Calif., Margaret Hitchman of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mary Woodside of Lancaster, Calif.; three sons, Robert Cummins of Hailey, Idaho, Richard Cummins of Las Vegas and Thomas Cummins of Dunedin, Fla.; three sisters, Rose Tiederman of Denver, Marge Estabrook of White Lake, Minn., and Donna Ponton of Jupiter, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday with a 6 p.m. rosary in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Church services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

BURTON ANDERSON

Burton Anderson, 93, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 20, 1904, in Moorhead, Minn. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired Rancho High School teacher for 14 years, but taught a total of 43 years with the Clark County School District and then worked for seven years as a tour guide at Hoover Dam.

He is survived by many friends.

DALE BRUNER

Dale Bruner, 62, of Las Vegas died Wednesday. He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Evansville, Ind. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired casino dealer and a Korean War Army veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne.

He is survived by one sister, Barbara Fuchs of Whittier, Calif.; and one brother, Bill Bruner of Havasu City, Ariz.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

ESTHER N. GILLEARD

Esther N. Gilleard, 74, of Boulder City died Friday in a local hospital. She was born June 6, 1924, in Gothenburg, Neb. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired owner-operator of a laundromat, a lifetime member of the Boulder City Women's Club, a volunteer at Boulder City Hospital and past president of Boulder City Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline A. Hayes of Las Vegas; one son, Jim Gilleard of Fort Bragg, Calif.; two brothers, Fredrick Wiebke of Denver and Almer Wiebke of Colorado Springs; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Entombment will follow in Palm Mausoleum.

RAYMOND PREBLE MAYO

Raymond Preble Mayo, 71, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born April 1, 1927, in Oklahoma. A resident for seven years, he was a United States Customs supervisor and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J.; four daughters, Michele Dayton, Juanita Brait, Elizabeth Mayo and Theresa Mayo; one sister, Betty Dalton; and one grandchild.

BILLY WAYNE RIGGS

Billy Wayne Riggs, 60, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Madisonville, Ky. A resident for 13 years, he was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Labor, Revere Copper & Brass in Scottsboro, Ala., and a retired Vietnam War Air Force veteran,

He is survived by his wife, Linda M.; three sons, Michael of Chatsworth, Ga., Gary of Las Vegas and Donald of San Diego; two sisters, Colleen Henry of Dunbar, W.Va., and Joyce Livingston of Charleston, S.C.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

JOSEPH ZAICHICK

Joseph Zaichick, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born July 10, 1924, in Edmundston, New Brunswick. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired fashion retailer and a World War II Canadian Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; one son, Lee Zaichick of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Freda Tassler of New York and Sylvia Fransblow of New Brunswick.

Services were 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
