Letter: Protecting flag means limiting free expression, which is wrong

This country is not free. If it was, the U.S. government wouldn't even consider such a preposterous law. If things are so bad that people feel that desecrating the flag is a necessary form of expression, maybe we should ask them why and make things better instead of criminalizing the act and suppressing them.

When patriots care more about inanimate objects than people's freedom there is a problem. That problem is called bigotry. It doesn't make our country better; it makes it a scary place to live.

Verily, no country is free, nor is freedom. We must still fight for our rights. No form of expression should be illegal. I think it should be illegal to suppress people. I wonder how the Senate would vote on that proposal.
