LV officials plan to show off logo for Triple-A World Series

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority officials will unveil the logo for the first Triple-A World Series during a special ceremony at tonight's Triple-A All-Star Game in Norfolk, Va.

The champions of the Pacific Coast League and International League will meet for the first time in Las Vegas to determine the triple-A champion.

The traditional red, white, and blue logo, emblazoned with three A's that combine into a star surrounding a baseball, captures the unique elements of the Las Vegas Triple-A World Series.

The best-of-5 championship series opens on Monday, Sept. 21, at 10,000-seat Cashman Field, home of the PCL's Las Vegas Stars. The Triple-A World Series will be shown throughout the country, although a cable television deal has yet to be announced.

The Triple-A World Series was conceived when the 30 AAA major league affiliates voted last summer to restructure their traditional three-league configuration and realign into two leagues.

The PCL and IL have agreed to match their champions in Las Vegas following the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Tickets for the inaugural Las Vegas Triple-A World Series went on sale today. Single-game tickets are $8 and $12 and can be reserved by calling the Stars office at 386-7200.
