The man was identified as Robert Mannarino, 38, whose arrest Monday was his second in three weeks for pretending to be an officer and stopping a car.
Mannarino has been known to identify himself as a sheriff's deputy, a federal drug agent or a member of other law enforcement agencies, Detective Sgt. Fred Schoenfeldt said.
Mannarino was booked into jail for attempted mayhem, threats, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, threatening a police officer and impersonating a police officer.
That followed his June 26 arrest for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, reckless driving and impersonating a police officer. In that case, he allegedly identified himself as a police officer and pulled over a woman motorist.
