Thursday, July 9, 1998 | 10:06 a.m.
Also known as the Warburton Family, the band has been a fixture on the Southwestern bluegrass circuit for more than two decades. It was founded by late coal miner and Nevada Legislature member Fon "Curly" Warburton, who learned bluegrass music from fellow coal miners.
The band's current lineup features Marty Warburton (banjo and vocals), April Warburton Wilkey (bass and vocals) Kelly Warburton (rhythm guitar and vocals) and longtime family friend Jay Buckey (mandolin and fiddle). The group is currently working on its second album, which mixes new and traditional bluegrass sounds.
Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the free concert. For additional information, call 565-2367.
