Former Marcos aide dies in Las Vegas

Aruiza, 56, died at a Las Vegas hospital Thursday from cancer.

Aruiza, who rose through the ranks of the Philippine army and was handpicked by Marcos to serve as personal security, was never far from the late president's side. He led Marcos off the plane when he arrived in Honolulu in February 1986 after Marcos was overthrown.

Aruiza moved to Henderson, a Las Vegas suburb, in 1991 after Marcos died in Hawaii.
