New commanders to take helm at NAS Fallon

Rear Adm. Bernard J. Smith will transfer command of the Naval Air Strike Warfare Center to Rear Adm. Tim Beard on Friday.
Smith has headed the center since the Navy's Top Gun fighter pilot school moved to Fallon from San Diego two years ago.
Beard is currently deputy commander and chief of staff for the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii.
In August, a new base commander will take over from Capt. Scott Ronnie, who is retiring from active duty.
Ronnie will be replaced Aug. 20 by Capt. David A. Rogers.
Rogers has been in charge of plans, programs and tactics department at the Strike Warfare Center for two years.
