The motorcyclist died shortly after the accident Wednesday just north of Stephanie Way. His identity was withheld pending notification of family. A passenger, Jerry Roop, 33, was airlifted to Washoe Medical Center in Reno. The driver of the truck, David Crossman, 18, of Gardnerville, and passenger Lynn Crossman, 45, weren't hurt.
Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Simon said Crossman had slowed for dogs that ran onto the road, and the motorcycle driver may have been talking to his passenger when he hit the truck.
Simon said alcohol wasn't suspected, but speed may have been a factor in the fatality.
