Letter: Baseball powers allow money to stand in way of integrity

I agree with Bill Constantine's letter (July 12). We allow our children to keep Dennis Rodman and Charles Barkley as role models but we won't permit them to see a fine baseball player, such as Pete Rose, in the Hall of Fame because of a bet he made.

And what about the likes of Darryl Strawberry, a drug user who's still playing the game, and countless others who are drug and alcohol abusers, womanizers and more?

Shame on the powers that be for allowing the almighty dollar to stand in the way of their integrity. I hope their children and grandchildren are taught morality and the proper way to live by those people in their lives who know better.

I suppose, in the long run, we blame the wrong people. Parents who bring their children to see these players and support the games are the worst of all.
