Letter: Laws must be upheld to keep America great

While all the people in the United States are entitled to their own opinion, I was astonished by Jennifer Gryder's letter to the editor (July 8) stating that protecting the flag is akin to limiting free expression. She continues: "No form of expression should be illegal and it should be illegal to suppress people."

Jennifer, do you propose to actually do away with all laws since they curtail you free expression? Dogs no longer must be kept on a leash, anyone can park in handicapped places, drive at any speed, etc. Would murder just be a form of expression -- a mere extension of not liking someone?

Laws are here for a reason. They are what helps make America such a great country and the flag represents our country. To deface our flag you demean our country. If you're that dissatisfied, please leave. Try another country and deface a flag where no laws are upheld.

If by a miracle you are not killed outright you may wish to return to the U.S.A. and our laws of protection for all. Being a citizen, by law, we must let you return. What do you think of laws now?
