Fire officials said the Sand Fire broke out on Saturday about 10 miles north of the lake and grew to about 2,000 acres on Sunday, then more than tripled overnight. It's about 40 percent contained.
They said it was human-caused, but didn't provide additional details.
About 100 firefighters were being hampered by rough terrain and the area's inaccessibility. Three minor injuries were reported. No structures are threatened.
