Commission stands by decision to revoke brothel license

The three-member commission revoked David Burgess' brothel license June 2, citing his association with the Hell's Angels motorcycle club.

The panel voted unanimously this week to withhold indefinitely the licenses for prostitution, liquor and boarding.

U.S. District Court Judge David Warner Hagen had ruled July 7 that the county could not enforce the revocations pending a hearing on whether the county violated brothel owner David Burgess' civil rights while taking the licenses.

Storey County District Attorney Janet Hess told the Nevada Appeal the latest vote clarifies the county's position and makes it easier to reschedule the matter after the rights-violation hearing. That hearing is not yet scheduled.
