Dog owner summoned to court after man dies following tangle with dog

Deputy Douglas County District Attorney Dina Salvucci filed a complaint of having a dog at large against Lesley Kay Boley of Yerington.

The dog, a Rottweiler mix, charged out of a tent set up in Topaz Lake Park on July 8 and bit 78-year-old Lawrence Fredin, who was working on an irrigation system.

Fredin was treated for a dog bite and a cut suffered when he fell and hit his head during the attack. Later in the day, he began suffering additional symptoms. He died the following morning of the head injury.

The summons orders Boley to appear in East Fork Justice Court Sept. 2.

Having a dog at large is a misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
