Letter: Trio's complaints miss mark regarding citizens' recall efforts

For Atkinson Gates to try to appear holier-than-thou takes a lot of gall. She suggests some people prefer to remember one "wrongdoing" rather than her positive accomplishments. She says this even in light of the fact that she is publicly guilty of more than one transgression and that "some people" are wondering how many more we don't know about.

Shame on Gordon for fretting about the tax dollars that in her opinion are being wasted on recall efforts. I'd bet that in her lawyer/client huddles with Gates, not a tear is shed for the overburdened, righteous, accountability-demanding taxpayer whose image they dare to invoke as camouflage.

Ferguson is coming across as a crybaby, too. She is quoted as saying, "It's awful, absolutely terrible" that her employees will be taken from their election-related jobs to deal with petition verification and a possible special election. If her idea of awful is overtime pay for county employees performing their mandated duties, I seriously question whether she is qualified for the position she holds. She should be mortified that she even uttered the words.

To a whining politician, a whining lawyer and a whining county employee: Dry your tears, ladies, and roll up your sleeves. The next few months could be very interesting. The Citizens for Honest and Responsible Government seem very determined. They shouldn't be underestimated or disparaged. They, after all, are following the letter of the law.
