Delbert Vernon Ballenger, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. He was born Nov. 1, 1927, in Picher, Okla. A resident for eight years, he was a retired supervisor for Goulds Pump for 11 years, a Korean War and Vietnam-era Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Norma M.; two daughters, Sue Black of Lovington, N.M., and Frances Schulze of Odessa, Texas; two brothers, and four sisters, all out of state; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 10-11 a.m. today in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave., Suite A-3. Graveside services followed at 11:30 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

EVA G. CAUGHEY

Eva G. Caughey, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in South Dakota. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker and a member of Senior Companions.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Zuniga of Las Vegas; one son, Henry Ankeny of Loomis, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

DONALD FAIRBANKS

Donald Fairbanks, 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born March 25, 1910, in LaCrosse, Wis. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired quality control inspector for Case Tractor Co. and a former employee of Autolite Co. for 28 years.

He is survived by one son, Donald R. Fairbanks of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Aug. 8 in LaCrosse. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave., Suite A-3, is handling arrangements.

FRANK GUITTARD

Frank Guittard, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 19, 1911, in Watson, Saskatchewan. A resident for 58 years, he was a World War II veteran and member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.

He is survived by his companion, Bertha Brandau of Las Vegas; one son, Christopher Guittard of Henderson; two sisters, Margaret Cook and Mae Yell, and one brother, Henry Guittard, all of Portland, Ore.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 3 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 5 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park.

RICHARD GENE HOCKER

Richard Gene Hocker, 50, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1947, in Delta, Colo. A resident for 25 years, he was a grocery store receiver and a Vietnam War Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Scott Hocker and Neil Hocker, and one daughter, Misty Hocker, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Frankye Sparks of Mason, Texas; two sisters, Joy Hahn of Mason and Bette Hart of Tollhouse, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

JOYE HOPPES

Joye Hoppes, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas. A resident for 45 years, she was a retired cocktail waitress and worked in the real estate business for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; one daughter, Lisa Marie Youngdahl of St. Louis; one son, Randy Del Giudice of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 3-4 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

NAMSOON LEE

Namsoon Lee, 67, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. She was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Korea. A resident for six months, she was a convenience store owner-operator.

She is survived by three daughters, Kwun Steinke of Boulder City and Young Sook and You Boon Song, both of Korea.

Visitation is scheduled 5-9 p.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Hites Funeral Services. Burial will be in Korea.

ROBERT IRA MALCHER

Robert Ira Malcher, 47, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 2, 1950, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. A resident for eight years, he was a truck driver, a Vietnam-era Army veteran, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his father, Stanley Edward Malcher Sr. of White River, Vt.; his mother, Anice Pellegrino of Poughkeepsie; and one brother, Stanley E. Malcher Jr. of Las Vegas.

ALBERTA A. MENNINGER

Alberta A. Menninger, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 8, 1909, in Cincinnati. A resident for 1 1/2 years, she was a member of Senior Citizens and St. Anne's Society, both in Cincinnati.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Menninger of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

No local services are scheduled. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

SUSAN S. PACE

Susan S. Pace, 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 24, 1909, in South Milwaukee. A resident for 48 years, she was a retired university senior chef.

She is survived by one daughter, Lois N. Blaskey of Chula Vista, Calif.; one brother, Chester Huber of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne's Catholic Church Building Fund, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

JOHN T. PYE

John T. Pye, 54, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 10, 1944, in Jacksonville, Fla. A resident for five years, he was a retired Navy explosive ordnance disposer and a Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra K.; two sons, Tomaso Anthony Pye of Dallas and Nathan Lee Pye of Las Vegas; one brother, Jacques Pye of Augusta, Ga.; and one sister, Penny Collins of Jacksonville, Fla.

Derick Toshun Reed, 18, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 19, 1980, in Mississippi. A resident for 10 years, he was a student.

He is survived by his mother, Debra Reed, his stepfather, Jerry Edwards, and one sister, La'Sara Edwards, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Charles Love of Atlanta and Jerry Edwards and Denzal Edwards, both of Las Vegas; and his grandmother, Louise Edwards of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

MAURICIO ANGELLO SANCHEZ-MARES

Mauricio Angello Sanchez-Mares, 29 days, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 21, 1998, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his father, Francisco J. Mares, and two brothers, Francisco Adran Mares and Alex Mares, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Guadalupe Mata, Ignacia Ortiz and Bernardo Sanchez, all of Las Vegas and Juan Mares of Mexico.

WILLIE R. WATERS II

Willie R. Waters II, 29, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 25, 1968, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a customer service representative in the medical industry.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Gray, his father and stepmother, Willie R. and Katie M. Waters, two sisters, Latonia Waters and Aneka Williams, and one brother, Ken Williams, all of Las Vegas; and his grandmother, Lucille Blow of Grand Cane, La.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Thursday in Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1189 W. Hassell Ave. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

ELMER M. WEISS

Elmer M. Weiss, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 15, 1916, in New York. A resident for 43 years, he was a keno manager in the gaming industry and an Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Alan Weiss of New York City and Howard Weiss and Curtis Weiss, both of Las Vegas; and one brother, Calvin Weiss of Utah.

Burial will be in Eden Vale Memorial Park. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

LOUJEAN WHITE

Loujean White, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Salt Lake City. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice; four daughters, Lynda McCulloch of Houston, Lynette Bouthellette of Maryland, Bette Thompson of Argyle, Texas, and Teri Meadows of Medina, S.D.; one son, Ricky White of Las Vegas; one brother, Glen Bullock of Ogden, Utah; one sister, LaRae Nelson of Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 9:30 a.m. services Thursday in the Polara LDS Chapel. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

HOWARD LESLIE YOUNG

Howard Leslie Young, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born April 3, 1920, in Monticello, Utah. He was a Las Vegas resident for the past 12 years, and also lived here for several years in the late 1930s and 1940s until he was drafted. He was a former builder and contractor in San Jose, Calif., a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Carpenters Union in California and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanore; one daughter, Jeanette Moghrabi of San Jose, Calif.; one son, Edward Young of Wisconsin; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Grattan of Las Vegas; one stepson, Clark Goddard of San Jose; three brothers, Melvin Young of Cedar City, Utah, J. Don Young of Provo, Utah, and Albert Young of Dude Creek, Utah; four sisters, Frances Block of Hanford, Calif., Ethel Millard of Sonoma, Calif., Alberta San Nicolas of San Jose and Dorothy Ann Handy of Tehachapi, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
