Teen dies from accident injuries

Jennifer Jo Smith, 17, had been in critical condition since Wednesday's accident. She was removed from life support Monday afternoon.

The girl, who would have been a senior at Douglas High School in the fall, was driving to Western Nevada Community College when the accident occurred.

Her car ran off the dirt portion of Buckeye Road and rolled into the canal. Emergency officials estimate she was underwater for about 15 minutes before she could be extricated from the car.
