Alice B. Anderson, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1909, in Providence, Mass. A resident for two years, she was a retired magazine printer, a former member of the Eastern Star and the Women's Club in Wilmington, Calif.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Anderson of Las Vegas; one son, Robert Anderson of Pomona, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

JAMES JOHN BEERS

James John Beers, 28, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1969, in New Brunswick, N.J. A resident for three years, he was an air conditioning repair technician, owned and operated All Sportz (a sporting goods company), was an Army veteran, a member of Artistic Touch Softball Team and coached Girls Sunrise softball.

He is survived by his wife, Essie; one daughter, Brittani Beers, and his father, James Beers, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Louise Chalker, four brothers, Dylan Beers, Matthew Stefanel, Joseph Carrion and John David Chalker, and his grandmother, Ann Cicala, all of Tampa, Fla.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

ROBERT H. BENNETT

Robert H. Bennett, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1913, in Ely. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired building contractor, a Marine Corps captain and World War II veteran who served in the Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons, Robert H. Bennett Jr. of Upland, Calif., Michael Bennett of Gilbert, Ariz., and Timothy Bennett of Sloansville, N.Y.; one sister, Jane Morris of Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard Bennett of Rochester and John Bennett of Maryland; and five grandchildren.

BERNELL BRYANT

Bernell Bryant, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1930, in Coyle, Okla. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired construction foreman, a member of the Masons and Labor Union 872.

He is survived by three sons, Bernell Emil Bryant of Las Vegas, Michael Earnell Bryant of Oklahoma and Christopher Bryant of San Diego; two daughters, Marinell Duicaume of Memphis, Tenn., and Coleen Yolanda Bryant of Sacramento, Calif.; one brother, William Gus Bryant of Baldwin Hills, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

WALT BURLING

Walt Burling, 62, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. He was born May 18, 1936, in Flushing, N.Y. A resident for 25 years, he was an educator for 13 years at a private school and most recently employed in surveillance at Lady Luck hotel-casino and was a member of the Course of Miracles Group.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; one son, Jay Burling of Las Vegas; three brothers, Howard Burling and William Denlinger, both of Connecticut and Charles Denlinger of New York state; and one sister, Jane Denlinger of Texas.

MICHAEL CLARISH

Michael Clarish, 97, of Las Vegas died June 23 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 1, 1901, in New York state. A resident for many years, he was a retired Army veteran.

RAYMOND R. COBIAN

Raymond R. Cobian, 32, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1965, in Sonora, Mexico. A resident for three years, he was a game host for Sega-game works and a property manager for a local apartment complex.

He is survived by his companion, Martin Garo Jr.; and his mother, Maria Cobian of El Chante, Mexico.

LEO COOTS

Leo Coots, 69, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Cumberland, Ky. A resident for two years, he was a shipyard welder and a Korean War Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Cleo.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; three sons, Jerry Coots of North Las Vegas and John Coots and Steve Coots, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Mable Kirk of Tennessee, Bonnie Baker of North Carolina and Ruby Whipkey of Florida; and six grandchildren.

Henry Degener, 65, of Las Vegas died July 16 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in New York. A resident for 10 years, he was an automotive material handler, an Army veteran, a member of the Elks Lodge and a Ford Motor Company bowling captain.

He is survived by his wife, Diana; four sons, Patrick, Donald, Michael and Dean, one daughter, Catharine Stillson, and one brother, George Richard Degener, all of New York; and nine grandchildren.

Thomas Robert Dombroski, 22, of Las Vegas died July 16 in Las Vegas. He was born March 8, 1976, in Vermont. A resident for one year, he was a graphic printer.

He is survived by one son, Ethen Thomas; one daughter, Khristina Samantha; his father, Robert Thomas Madison; his mother, Gloria Kimbell; two brothers, Daniel and Jason; and three sisters, Cheryl Silva, Amy Michaud and Hanna Madison.

Katherine Lavonne Everman, 71, of Searchlight died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Pomona, Calif. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker and active with AMVETS Post 1 Nevada.

She is survived by one daughter, Vel Addison of London; one son, Ray Hubbard of Lake Forest, Calif.; one sister, Phyllis Kirk Holland of LaVerne, Calif.; one brother, Raymond "Bud" Smith of Hemet, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Helen Fleming, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 3, 1922, in Mississippi. A resident for 49 years, she was a retired hotel attendant.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Jenkins of Las Vegas; a host of friends; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

SCOTT STEVEN FURMAN

Scott Steven Furman, 51, of Las Vegas died July 16 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 7, 1946, in New York City. A resident for 19 years, he was a poker room manager.

He is survived by one sister, Alison Furman.

BUFORD M. GARRISON

Buford M. Garrison, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Virginia. A resident for two years, he worked in real estate and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Carl.

Orin Jerome Glass Jr., 70, of Las Vegas died July 1 in Las Vegas. A resident for three years, he was born April 26, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo.

He is survived by many good friends.

HOWARD L. GROTHJAN

Howard L. Grothjan, 65, of Henderson died Sunday. He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio. A resident for nine years, he was a security liaison sergeant for a gaming security company and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dana; four sons, Stephen Grothjan of Arvada, Colo., John Soucie of Buena Vista, Colo., Joseph Soucie of Greeley, Colo., and Kevin Walters of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Lori Aragon Henderson, Michell Ferguson of Wiggins, Colo., and Karen Walters of Livermore, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is survived by his mother, Pauline Hildebrand; and one brother, Kenneth E. Hildebrand.

Leonard Elsworth Kelley, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 14, 1910, in Illinois. A resident for 21 years, he was a manager at Circle K and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel J.; one son, Perry D. Gaines; one brother, Raymond Kelley; two sisters, Pat Bishop and Vera Popham; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Billie J. McFarland, 69, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 17, 1929, in St. Charles, Mo. A resident for 48 years, she retired as a Smith's Food King grocery store clerk after 20 years.

She is survived by her companion, Curtis Potter of Las Vegas; one daughter, Sheila Greenwood of Seattle; her mother, Esther Raymer, and three sisters, Millie, Ruby and Lillian, all of Missouri; and one grandchild.

Marion E. Powroznik, 90, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 25, 1907, in Fairmont, W.Va. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired elementary schoolteacher.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty S. Dane of Las Vegas; two sons, Bob Powroznik of Lake Stevens, Md., and Tom Powroznik of Marysville, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue; eight children; and 10 grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Michael L.; one daughter, Tyler E. Scott of Las Vegas; her parents, Robert and Carol Helus, and one brother, Robert W. Helus Jr., all of Hesperia, Calif.; and her grandmother, Arlene Kennedy of Auburn, Calif.

Chad Ian Whittington, 13, of Henderson died Monday in Panguitch, Utah. He was born Jan. 17, 1985, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident of Southern Nevada, he was a student, a member of the Green Valley Roller Hockey League and Legacy Little League Baseball Team.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Kim Whittington of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Mary Lyman, Carl Whittington, and Maria Holly, both of Las Vegas and Emmy Schramm of Brown Mills, N.J.
