ROBERT M. BANKY

Robert M. Banky, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 19, 1924, in Boston. A resident for 60 years, he was a retired restaurant chef and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy.

NIKOM 'NICK' BOONKUM

Nikom "Nick" Boonkum, 29, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1968, in Thailand. A resident for eight years, he was a restaurant cook and a lifetime member of Skoaners Motorcycle Club.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Cox, his stepfather, John LeFrancois, and two brothers, Tommy Boonkum and Danny Cox, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Tammy Cox of Tennessee; and her grandmother, Loon Boonkum of Las Vegas.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

BETTY JANE BRUCE

Betty Jane Bruce, 74, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born April 2, 1924, in Boicott, Kan. A resident for many years, he was a wardrobe manager and a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Ball of Las Vegas; two sons, Mike Windell of El Paso, Texas, and Jimmy Bruce of Las Vegas; three brothers; two sisters; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. A private burial will follow.

DELORES 'DOE' CHERPESKI

Delores "Doe" Cherpeski, 78, of Boulder City died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born May 17, 1920, in Fargo, N.D. A resident for 50 years, she was retired and was a homemaker.

She is survived by five daughters, Georgia Gaines of Kingman, Ariz., Cathy Wendling of Mesa, Ariz., Linda Martin of Las Vegas, Marcia Lape of Idaho and Corene Thorwart of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sons, Ernie Brevik of Ottawa, Ill., Robert Szynski of Las Vegas and Thomas Cherpeski of Botham, Wash.; two brothers, Delmar Schur of Dolan Springs, Ariz., and Robert Schur of Creighton, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Christ Lutheran Church, Boulder City.

Roger E. Colin, 87, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Middletown, N.J. A resident for eight years, he was a cabinetmaker.

He is survived by one son, William Colin of Las Vegas; one daughter, Gladys Pearson of Chula Vista, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services and burial will be in New Jersey.

PAUL E. FRENCH

Paul E. French, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 24, 1920, in Iowa. A resident for five years, he was a shipping and receiving clerk in the aerospace industry and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by one sister, Mae Wilson of Iowa.

Annie Mae Gilmore, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Macon, Miss. A resident for 45 years, she was a retired hotel inspectress.

She is survived by six sons, James Gilmore, Elder Billy Gilmore, Joseph Gilmore, Jimmie Gilmore, David Gilmore and Johnny Gilmore, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Robert Knox of Chicago; two sisters, Birtha Ann Hyde and Rosie Ann Williams, both of Mississippi; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Friendship Church of God in Christ. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Palm Memorial Park.

Lois Jean Harder, 75, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Pennsylvania. A resident for four years, she was a board inspector for pc computers.

She is survived by one daughter, Claudia Harder of Las Vegas.

WARDINE 'WARD' JOHNSON

Wardine "Ward" Johnson, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 13, 1934, in Tunica, Miss. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired automotive assembly line worker at General Motors in Detroit.

He is survived by one daughter, Keisha Johnson of Las Vegas; three sons, Richard Turner and Derrick Turner, both of Las Vegas and Donald Johnson of Battle Creek, Mich.; his mother, Betty Johnson, and eight sisters, Ann, Emma, Hatti, Bessie, Clara, Betty Ruth, Evelyn and Catherine, all of Detroit; one brother, David Johnson of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Lord Jesus. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Audrey Kline, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Marinette, Wis. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, John; one daughter, Sandi Conrad, and one son, Stephen Kline, both of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Betty Miller, 71, of West Hills, Calif., died Monday in West Hills. A former Las Vegas resident for seven years until 1996, she was born Dec. 4, 1926, in the Bronx, N.Y.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Axton of West Hills and Joan Miller of Encino, Calif.; one son, Lance Axton of Atlanta; one sister, Natalie Annixt of New York; and one grandson.

Services will be in California. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

ALISA MARIE NOWACZYK-LIGHTHISER

Alisa Marie Nowaczyk-Lighthiser, 31, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1967, in Sacramento, Calif. A resident for 26 years, she was a massage therapist.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; one daughter, Jennifer Lighthiser of Michigan; one son, Stanley Nowaczyk, and one brother, David White, both of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Thomas Bryant of Las Vegas and John and Mary Nowaczyk of Omaha, Neb.

Diana S. Horne Re, 35, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 28, 1963, in Lincoln, Neb. A resident for 12 years, she was a licensed practical nurse.

She is survived by her fiance, Chris Jackson, one daughter, Taylor Leigh Re, and two sons, Dominic Joseph Re and Tanner Jon Re, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Barbara Horne McGinnis of Atlanta; two sisters, Elizabeth Bridgewater and Robin Horne, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Thomas Horne of Trinity Center, Calif.; and one stepsister, Melody Hebert of Plaquemine, La.

Roy S. Robertson Sr., 74, of Las Vegas died July 16 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Jamaica, West Indies. A resident for 13 years, he was a welder for 40 years in the Chicago area for Rheem Manufacturing, a member of the Teamsters Union and a dedicated husband and father.

He is survived by four daughters, Audrey L. Smith and Hyacinth J. Nichols, both of Las Vegas, Donna V. Robertson of Chicago and Clara Robertson-Calbert of Henderson; two sons, Ruben E.G. Robertson of Hazelcrest, Ill., and Wesley N. Robertson of Richton Park, Ill.; one sister, Hyacinth Robertson of Jamaica; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mabel N. Roe, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born May 27, 1925, in Kentucky. A resident for more than 20 years, she was an employee at Holliman Air Force Base in Alamagorde, N.M., and most recently a homemaker.

She is survived by one adopted niece and nephew, Jeanie and William Clatts of Las Vegas.

VINCENT JOHN ROSCOE

Vincent John Roscoe, 77, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Indio, Calif. He was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Lowell, Mass. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired engineer for 20 years at the Aladdin hotel-casino, a member of American Legion Post 8 and Engineers Union Local 501.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Ron Roscoe and John Roscoe, and two daughters, Bonnie Linton and Connie A. Burdick, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Jane McNulty and Mary White, both of Massachusetts and Lillian Fortier of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Wayne Santo, 70, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in California. A resident for 30 years, he was a sheet metal worker in the construction worker and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; four sons, John Santo and David Santo, both of California and Pete Santo and Paul Santo, both of Las Vegas; two daughters, Joayne Ihli and Beatrice Casas, both of Pahrump; and two brothers, Ronald Santo and Burton Santo, both of California.

Alexander Shaw Jr., 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Waukegan, Ill. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired recruiter for the federal government, a Vietnam-era Air Force veteran and a member of the Umpire Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife, Linda M.; two daughters, Kerry Treadway of Waukegan and Andrea Shaw-Coleman of Las Vegas; one son, Alexander Shaw III of Wichita Falls, Texas; two stepdaughters, Danielle Hubbard of Waukegan and Tillanie Hubbard of Las Vegas; one stepson, Eric Hubbard, his father, Alexander Shaw Sr., and one sister, Penelope Shaw-Venable, all of Waukegan; one brother, Steve Shaw of Las Vegas; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and seven grandchildren.

Robert Lee Straule, 52, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. He was born June 10, 1946, in Bicknell, Ind. A resident for 2 1/2 years, he was a retired Air Force senior master sergeant and a Vietnam War and Grenada veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Celestina; three sons, Robert L. Strahle of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ricardo L. Strahle and Randall L. Strahle, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Regina L. Strahle of Pompano, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his fiance, Ruth Page, one daughter, Shawn Wood, and his father, Ben F. Wood Sr., all of Las Vegas; his mother, Ruby C. Damrel of Corona, Calif.; one sister, Linda Wood, and one brother, Don Wood, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.
