CARSON CITY -- The Clark County Grand Jury Friday indicted Angela Marie Hasty-Andis, 27, on charges of cashing disability checks issued to her mother after her mother died.
Hasty-Andis, according to the indictment, allegedly collected $3,600 from three checks before the fraud was uncovered.
The mother, Patricia Ann Hasty of Las Vegas, died Sept. 15, 1997. One week after the death, Hasty-Andis called the Professional Insurance Corp., posing as her mother and asked the company to change the location for payment of the disability checks to Andis' address in Las Vegas.
The state Attorney General's Office said Hasty-Andis has disappeared and an arrest warrant is outstanding. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 34 years in prison plus fines and restitution payments.
