College chief touts science project

CARSON CITY -- President Richard Moore says a $32 million science complex proposed for the Charleston Boulevard campus of the community college would be "the most exciting building in western America."

Included would be windmills, a planetarium, a wall exhibiting 300 million years of history, and an elevator illustrating the workings of DNA.

Moore outlined the project Tuesday to the state Public Works Board, which heard proposals from state agencies amounting to $600 million.

CCSN is proposing the state finance $20 million for the core science building at Charleston Boulevard. The college itself, Moore said, will raise the additional $11 million to $12 million through private donations.
