No death penalty in Goni Canyon murder case

Chief Deputy District Attorney Anne Langer said during a hearing Wednesday in Justice Court that none of the 13 possible factors used to determine if the death penalty should be sought was met.
Danny Harper, 21, and Roy Thrasher, 20, are accused of killing Jerry Hobson Jr. on Jan. 25 over a bad debt . Hobson's body was found April 11 dumped in the canyon, located northeast of Carson City.
The brothers are accused of luring Hobson to the canyon on the pretense of loaning him money and smoking marijuana. Once there, Thrasher allegedly shot Hobson three times before Harper took the gun and allegedly shot a fourth bullet into Hobson.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 2 in Justice Court.
