Henderson Parks and Rec briefs

The workshop will focus on parenting skills that pertain to children 5 to 10 years old. Psychologists often refer to this stage of development as crucial in adjusting the parent and child relationship. Parents attending the workshop will be taught how to cope with the daily pressures of parenthood, manage child behavior and communicate effectively.

Participants who successfully complete the workshop will receive a certificate. To register, call 455-5295.

A "Living Debt Free" workshop will be sponsored by Henderson Parks and Recreation from 10 a.m. to noon June 20 at Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road. Participation is open to those over the age of 15 at $25.

The instructor will teach participants how to create a budget, save money, build wealth quickly and live 100 percent debt free. Each participant will also receive a personalized debt-reduction plan.

Henderson Parks and Recreation will sponsor a reflexology workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. June 20 at Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris Street. Participation is $15 for adults, 18 or older.

Reflexology is method of massage that may relieve nervous tension by applying finger pressure to specific areas such as the feet. Reflexology is also said to aid in pain reduction by manipulating specific reflexes in the body.

In the workshop, participants will be taught basic techniques that are believed to reduce body tension.
