Man gets death sentence for killing wife's lover

Sebastian Bridges, 34, was angry that the jury convicted him after only 25 minutes of deliberations.

After about four hours of deliberations on Friday, the jury sentenced Bridges to death for the shooting of Hunter Blatchford, who had been romantically involved with Bridges' estranged wife, Laurie.

She testified this week that after six months of separation, her husband tracked her down from California and that her new lover insisted they all get together to talk and try to smooth over everyone's feelings.

Instead, Bridges tricked them both, luring them to his car and driving to the middle of the desert where he shot Blatchford. He then repeatedly told his wife "it's all your fault." She was handcuffed while he dug a shallow grave with a shovel she realized he had bought for the occasion.

At trial earlier this week, Bridges, who acted as his own lawyer, insisted the shooting was an accident.
