Brothel owner fails to regain license in first try

Federal Bankruptcy Judge Bert Goldwater on Friday declined to interfere with Storey County's revocation of the license of Old Bridge Ranch brothel owner David Burgess.

"It is a state matter," he said, adding he has no jurisdiction to stay the commission's decision.

Commissioners revoked the license Tuesday based on concerns about Burgess' association with the Hell's Angels motorcycle club.

Goldwater's decision came despite Burgess' contention the license revocation would lead to his Lockwood brothel's insolvency in as little as a week.

Burgess attorney Rod Carucci said he now plans to appeal the commission's decision in Carson District Court and Reno federal court.
