Letter: Proposals for Mount Charleston would help visitors, residents

My husband, who was born and raised here in Las Vegas, and I, a resident of nearly 10 years, travel to Mount Charleston at least twice a month to go hiking and/or mountain biking, but we can only do so much of either because of the "restrictions" put on us by the residents of the area.

With what we have read regarding the project, we feel it will be a great addition to the area, for we will be able to use the projects' facilities to meet other friends before and after hiking or biking for a cup of coffee, a soda or even lunch without disturbing the residents of Mount Charleston, or the natural landscape of the area.

My thought is that if the residents of Mount Charleston do get this development stopped, they should open up their homes and lots to the visitors of "their mountain" for a place to rest and have some lunch.

I support all proposed development, and oppose any change to the Northwest Clark County Land Use & Development Guide, reducing any recreational opportunities.
