A $10,000 reward has been offered by the owners and management of the Carefree Sandhill apartment complex for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman who killed tenant Thomas Kaine, 63.
Kaine, an Army veteran, was steps from his apartment when his killer engaged him in an argument about 9:50 p.m. Sunday. Kaine's wife was walking ahead of her husband and heard the fatal shot while heading upstairs, Metro Police said.
Witnesses recalled seeing an Asian or Hispanic man in his 20s wearing a dark jacket or parka hop a block wall on the south side of the complex and run off about the time of the killing. Police want to question the man and are seeking the public's help in tracking him down.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the homicide section at 229-3521. Anonymous tips can be placed with Secret Witness at 385-5555.
