Panel hears campaign complaints

They can contact the state Ethics Commission for a form on which they can detail their complaint about unfair campaign practices.

Under a new state law, the Ethics Commission was set up by the Legislature to become the arbiter of truth in campaigns. Commissioners must meet and make a decision on challenged campaign ads or statements within 15 days of receiving a complaint.

All hearings on complaints will be open to the public.

But before the commission acts, candidates must complete the proper complaint form, plus nine copies. Only objections filed on the forms will be considered.

To acquire the complaint forms, write the Ethics Commission at 755 N. Roop St., Room 212, Carson City, NV 89701.
