Letter: Unappreciative blackjack dealers, drivers subjects of irritation

I am tired of the resentment I receive from some blackjack dealers when I do not tip them as much as they expect. Some gamblers are foolish enough to push chip after chip out for the dealers, but for those of us who play with the goal of winning money, let me point out a few things.

1. The dealers are already paid by their employers, the casinos. No, it's not a subminimum.

2. The dealer has nothing to do with the player's fortune. Unlike a waitress, whose performance may affect the quality of the meal, the dealer only deals the cards, according to the exact rules of the game. In the long run (over years of playing), the player's fortune is determined by the rules of the game and the player's skill, not by "luck."

3 If the dealers want to earn more money, they should find another job and quit coveting the gambler's occasional profits. Do you see gamblers standing near the casino's payroll office expecting a piece of the dealer's profits?

Also, a couple things irritate me about local drivers:

1. Drivers who accelerate, even though they can see cars stopped at the red light ahead.

2. Drivers behind you who enter the right-hand turn lane (often before the markings allow) and accelerate. Therefore, when you get close enough to read the intersection to read the name of the cross street, your entry tp the right-hand turn lane is blocked.

Maybe we should tax gasoline and brake linings. It might create better drivers.
