New wetlands project dedicated

The Nevada Division of Wildlife, Ducks Unlimited Inc. and Sierra Pacific Power Co., the project's sponsors, staged the dedication for the North Pond Pipeline.
The pipeline will supply water to the largest in a series of four ponds in the wildlife area.
Sierra Pacific has committed to provide as much as 2,500 acre-feet of water annually from its Fort Churchill cooling pond.
Sierra Pacific officials said the project greatly expands the local waterfowl habitat and enhances local fisheries through improved water quality.
The 189-acre propety is managed as a public hunting, fishing and recreational area.
