Obituaries for June 15, 1998

Eustacia P. Alvarez, 72, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born April 29, 1926, in Mexico. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Amalio; five daughters, Irene Neson and Irma A. Ortiz, both of Las Vegas, Alicia Ceron of Justin, Texas, and Maria A. DeLeon and Gloria Alvarez-Barahona, both of North Las Vegas; one son, Amalio A. Alvarez of North Las Vegas; one sister, Rosalia Perez of Mexico; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-11:45 p.m. today and will continue at midnight until 10 a.m. services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

EDNA T. ANSTETT

Edna T. Anstett, 95, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 9, 1902, in Oakhall, Va. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired secretary, a member of the Mesquite Club, Daughter of the Valley of Fire Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Anstett of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

The family suggests donations to the Talking Book Program, Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

CHUCK BICKEL

Chuck Bickel, 36, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 21, 1961, in Jersey Shore, Pa. A resident for seven years, he was a welder/mechanic on heavy equipment.

He is survived by his wife, Jane E.; two sons, Chas Bickel and Rayce Bickel, both of Henderson; his parents, Helen and Charlie Bickel, and two brothers, Edward Bickel and Dale Bickel, all of Las Vegas; four sisters, Cynthia Edwards of the Jersey Shore, Pa., and Connie Luff, Brenda Luff and Letha DeVore, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until a 6 p.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

VAUGHN A. BURTON

Vaughn A. Burton, 81, of Henderson died Thursday in Henderson. He was born March 6, 1917, in Mesa, Ariz. A resident for 49 years, he was a retired aircraft repairman and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Phillips of Panaca and Sharon Carducci of Henderson; one son, Lee Burton of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-6 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

DORMA ELLISON

Dorma Ellison, 39, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born April 22, 1959, in Kingman, Ariz. A resident for 28 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey J.; one daughter, Krystal Ellison, and two sons, William Wharton and Isaac Wharton, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

RICHARD FRANTA

Richard Franta, 66, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A resident for 30 years, he was a Marine Corps master sergeant and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, president of Nevada United Four Wheel Drive Association, member of Vegas Valley Four Wheelers and the Jeep Club.

He is survived by his wife, Estella; five sons, Richard Michael, Mark Douglas, Mitchell Eric, Brian Andrew and Brett Alan, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, David Franta of Seattle and James Franta of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Dorothy Price of Denver; and 10 grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

MILDRED K. GILLESPIE

Mildred K. Gillespie, 93, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born April 12, 1905, in Connersville, Ind. A resident for 18 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Eastern Star Chapter Daylite 30.

She is survived by one son, Robert; two daughters, Eleanor G. Wilchins of Las Vegas and Janet Lincks of South Gate, Calif.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 5 p.m. services today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

STANLEY A. GORSKI

Stanley A. Gorski, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born May 23, 1924, in Baltimore. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired firefighter and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Stanley D. Gorski of Madrid, Spain, and Joel Gorski of Las Vegas; one sister, Vicky Vogel of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

MARVIN 'MUTTY' KESSLER

Marvin "Mutty" Kessler, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 19, 1928, in Chicago. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired restaurateur, a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of the Chicago Club.

He is survived by four daughters, Susan Wolf of Illinois, Jamie Tamura and Stacey Kessler, both of Las Vegas, and Marla Kessler of New York City; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

HOWARD SCHORR

Howard Schorr, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1919, in New York City. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired World War II and Korean War Army and Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; one son, Larry Schorr of San Francisco; and one sister, Nora Levsky of Coconut Creek, Fla.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
