Teen gets house arrest for accident that killed classmates

As part of a plea bargain in which Amber Carey pleaded guilty to felony reckless driving, the teen will also be on probation and have her license suspended until she is 21.

The juvenile court judge said it was impossible to do justice in the case because he cannot bring back the two victims.

Olga Lopez and Kena Corbett, both 16, were killed on Feb. 28 when the car Carey was driving crashed into a wall on U.S. Highway 95 in the southeast part of the city. Nevada Highway Patrol officers said Carey had been drinking and was driving about 90 mph.

Carey told the court she knew what she did was wrong and did not mean for anything bad to happen that night.
