Letter: Reader thankful for service from CAT paratransit buses

My husband and I ride a CAT paratransit bus several times a week. We really appreciate the service. The drivers are kind and considerate. The riders, for the most part, are, too. But there are some complaints and some very rude riders, too.

People in pain are sometimes thoughtless. The drivers have to put up with people in wheelchairs, mentally challenged people, and people with walkers and canes. They have to make sure we are all buckled in. The wheelchairs take a while because they have to be buckled as well as the rider. I have seen drivers smoke outside the bus but never blow smoke into the bus.

We would be lost without the paratransit bus. I have cancer and have had several surgeries and chemo. My husband has had spinal injuries. Neither one of us drives anymore. The bus takes us to our treatments and doctor visits for tests. It also takes us grocery shopping or to the mall, wherever we need to go.

I would like to thank CAT paratransit drivers for this wonderful service and to thank CAT for providing it.

Paul and Pauline Ryan
