Matthew Cohn leads tournament in Henderson

Henderson's Dallas Massey shot a two under 70 on the first day of the three day tournament, but he will have his work cut out for him if he's going to catch the leader Matthew Cohn. Cohn, a 17-year-old from La Jolla, Calif. fired a personal-beat 65, one off the tournament record to take command of the leader board. Durango's Randy Creighton posted the area's second best score, a 72, while Green Valley graduate Avi Khitri was close behind with a 73. On the girls side, Nancy Abiecunas of Fort Collins, Colo. took the early lead with a two-under 70, while Green Valley sisters Christine and Mary Jan Fernandez are tied for fifth with 75s. Action resumed today at 7 a.m.
