Young People's Concerts at Winchester

Opening the series on Thursday will be the award-winning team of Cathy & Marcy. Accompanying themselves on a variety of instruments, the duo will teach youngsters to yodel, play air guitar, do rope tricks, use sign language and sing along.

On July 19, singer-guitarist Frank Cappelli will take the stage. Star of his own children's television show, "Cappelli and Company," on Nickelodeon, the performer is known for his ability to transform the simple things in a child's life into musical experiences.

The July 23 attraction will be singer-songwriter Dana and her dog Rowdy. Dana evokes enthusiasm with her mixture of original songs and old favorites. Her recent recording, "Dana's Best Sing & Swing-A-Long Tunes;; won the National Parenting Publications GOLD Award in 1997.

Wacky Al Simmons will close the series on Aug. 6. A frequent guest on "Sesame Street," Simmons has also appeared on Nickelodeon and The Learning Channel. His repertoire includes such songs as "Something's Fishy at Camp Wiganishie" and "The Truck I Bought from Moe."

The Young People's Summer Concert Series is sponsored by Clark County Parks and Recreation. Admission is $3; tickets will be available at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased at Winchester Center. For more information, call 455-7340.
