Robert Rowland and Tony Smith have each been charged with two counts of murder. Richard Irvine has been charged with one count of murder for beating and kicking Silva to death. They also face counts of robbery, burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Bob Harmon, spokesman for Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, said Monday there's a high probability that the death penalty will be sought in the case.
The Carson City grand jury indicted the three inmates along with fellow inmate Juan LaPiere, facing counts of robbery and burglary for taking a television, food, clock and other items from Silva's cell. LaPiere is also charged with being an accessory to robbery.
Silva, serving consecutive five- to 13-year terms from Washoe County for robbery with a deadly weapon, was found in his cell after guards were summoned by his cell mate who said he needed help.
