Letter: Mainstream media ignored 'Rolling Thunder' event

This gathering of "real Americans" was totally ignored by the mainstream media. Vietnam and Gulf War veterans share a common grievance with the government because both were exposed to toxic agents and to this day have been denied meaningful treatment or compensation.

Where were CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox and CNN? Where were the senators, congressman, Pentagon officials? Where were the military leaders and so-called heroes who claim to stand for their servicemen and -women? Where was the American Legion, the VFW, the Veterans Administration?

How could this many people be gathered for such a worthy cause and have the American media black out this event all over the country? This is sad. Americans should demand accountability. All who attend this event agreed to return next year with at least one other person so that maybe one and a half million will be at "Rolling Thunder XII."

I wonder how many people it will take to draw the attention of our media. Americans deserve better than the reporting we are now receiving. The press is supposed to be the conscience of our country. Lately, our country has had no conscience.
