Letter: Mayor should have supported local cancer survivors day
Saturday, June 27, 1998 | 4:17 a.m.
On June 7 the National Cancer Survivors Day picnic was held at Rotary Park. As a survivor of cancer I would like to thank our mayor, Jan Laverty Jones, for not showing up as expected.
As a survivor, I feel it was not the proper setting for a political rally. I also feel that it was her choice to go wherever she wanted to go for her treatment.
But as our Las Vegas mayor I do think she should have had a little consideration for our national survivors day. So I feel shame for you, Mayor Jones, for your nonsupport for our Las Vegas cancer survivors.
Also, I would like to say that we have some of the best oncologist and radiation doctors in Las Vegas.
